Project Foggy
Bought the 'old' girl in Oct 07, but didn't collect until end Jan 08. Covered 2500 blissful miles so far, but having a minor engine problem at the moment (see technical posts). Anyway, still spell-bound with the whole Ducati package and have started renewing some tired bit & pieces, with some subtle 'bling'. . . . . .
Any thoughts on what next:
Slipper clutch?
Newer clutch master cylinder?
BST Carbon wheels?
Tecnosel seat ~ if I can find one?
Replacement caps for front/rear brake & clutch cylinders?

The list is endless and wallet emptying!
Be prepared to re-mortgage your house in pursuit of bling satisfaction!
I've spent more thousands than I'd care to think about, but loved every minute of it!

Agree with the seat, but IMHO better left standard . OK I appreciate that the bling can easily be removed, but they are a modern classic and you may regret all the extra expense on an already cracking looking bike. If I could get Mrs Spike to agree to having a third bike, I would love a bog standard early 916. Or a MH900E, or a Supermono or.........

A Tecnosel seat came supplied with the Foggy Rep .
They're only foam & don't take long to look well scruffy ...
The Tecnosel seat that came with my Foggy Rep had been used & had chunk's of foam missing .
I got it covered in black suede . ( Done by Ollie off this forum)...

Best performance bang for the buck = wheels, even when its alot of bucks. when you go to sell it you will never get the $ back out, especially with a bike that is gaining in stature as collectable. My 2 cts.

Spike, et al ~ - Of course, you're right, the bike is a classic and already looks fantastic.
- I've heard that suede seats are not the way forward (wet arse when it rains) and that tecnosel foam can become shabby very quickly.
- I'm not trying to make it look that different, just a few subtle changes and replacing some of the (visible) corroded nuts/bolts will bring it back to life.
- Saw some BST wheels on a 998R once and they looked superb (the icing on the cake), but Mrs A will probably kill me before I purchase nearly £2k worth of wheels.

Have to concur re the wheels. Carbon Dymags on my 998 completely changed the way the bike handled, it's so light steering and tips in beautifully.

Another wheels convert here, best performance mod you'll ever do; improves steering, handling, acceleration, braking and probably even fuel consumption in one step, and with no downside (except the cost).

- Cost ~ is probably the limiting factor and the only thing that is stopping me at the moment (even with the collect now ~ pay in a year deals, that I have seen!).
- Next Phase: I think I'm going to change the rear spring and firm up the back end, then pay to have a proper suspension setup, by someone who knows what they are doing ~
- Already booked into SNELL's on 17 Jun 08.

The wheels are the dog's bits, but also like the MPL caps ~ saw some Oberon ones the other day that took my fancy.

Another good upgrade are the Brembo radial clutch and master cylinders, the brake in particular is a massive improvement over the standard master cylinder.
And they look quite nice too!

Just got the bike back from SNELL's after a new clutch + suspension set-up ~
They removed rear shock, stripped and cleaned rear suspension, fitted new K Tech spring (75 kg, slightly heavier than before) and set bike to following spec (noting I weigh 72 kgs): - Compression Front 13 (out)
- Compression Rear 16 (out)
- Rebound Front 11 (out)
- Rebound Rear 14 (out)
What a difference ~ sharper turn-in and holds the line like it is on rails.
A big thank you! Feels like a new bike......................

Almost exactly the same set up I have, 195 in gear. The previous owner was 5 lbs lighter, and had it set up. I might be a click or two less on rear compression and rebound. The set up manual calls for 10 or 12 clicks of compression, but that is really stiff. Works great for brisk but not berserk street riding.
