hi all, my neutral light has packed up, when it was in for servive they disconnected it as it was lighting and then going off, where abouts is it ??

i'll have a look and see if theres a loose contact but if not how easy is it to find and more importantly...... replace.

Back of the engine case, RH side behind the footrest area.....try a long socket with a mole grip or similar on it, the switch is conveniently located in a deep-ish recess!

notoriously flickery!

the wires coming off the back of the switch have to round a tight corner, back towards the top of the battery where they end in bullet connectors. mine had partially broken off at the back of the switch and I've had a go at soldering them once, but it still flickers on and off - rarely at the right time! another perennial winter job!

the other potential reason for eratic performance (as I understand) is that the probe on the switch has to protrude just the right distance in through the engine case. if not I guess it's always on or always off! I think I've seen shims mentioned somewhere..

Was was never great and recently got worse. it was only flashing before it was in neutral and just after.
remove the right hand foot peg, and the tailpipes and link pipe, makes it a doddle to access. with a deep 13mm socket you can slip it over the end and get grips on it to wind it out. i cleaned mine up with carb cleaner and refitted. works perfectly now for the first time

eh ?

i tried replacing mine and after a lot of faffing about, swearing and lost skin on my knuckles i finally got it in but it was on all the time !!!. so i removed it, pulled the wires off the original one as this made it easier to just get a socket on it for easy fitting, i'll get the dealer to sort it at next service.

there is 2 different types of switch, one has bullet connectors on the switch itself which is easy to get a socket on ............................................... mine is the other kind .

i hope you all have better luck if you try and replace yours, as for me i've lost enough of my life (and enough off my knuckles )trying to resolve the problem so i'll leave it to the experts.

Just had mine replaced again but probably a waste of time!

I've been using the roll up to parking spot letting the clutch out method for years!

The fuel light still comes on to let me know that the tank is between 3/4 and a 1/4 full! Then it goes off again! ????????????
