Thumbs up One squeak to another wheel bearing parts and reinstall

Just arrived home to find the squeak at the front was the wheel bearings. i can see the bearings loose.....could have been that i took out the wheel and tightened up by hand, too tight.
any one know
the bearing sizes?
how do i put the wheel back together. eg wheel clamp first, tighten nut and torque?

thanks Vinny
ps the last squeak was a clutch bearing. That was sorted.....

Vinny/ 996 uses 6005 2RS, paid £15 for the pair from BSL, can't imagine 748 will be different? (25mm bore, 47mm o/d, 12mm wide)

Line up axle so that you can still access the compression adjuster screws
Tighten axle nut to 63 NM
Refit calipers, speedo drive etc
Loosely fit and nip up axle clamps
Bounce suspension a few times to ensure alignment
Tighten clamps gradually, a little at a time, to 19NM
howzat?

Total Collapse

I was on my way from Weston to Stow. Just slowed down through Tetbury to be greeted by a scrapping noise followed by what felt like a flat front tyre.
Further inspection showed the my ST2 wheel bearing had chewed up and spatt out all of the race and half of the Balls!!

Can anyone give advice on the Bearing Number and how it can be changed.

Had to call the AA to get home - Still... I managed to limp up the road for a Pint in the Trouble House.

I carried out a search online but could not find the exact bearing number. Maybe you could place a new post or carry out a search online with your model.
Vinny
about to replace the bearings....

The numbers will be on the side of whats left of the bearing and will be something like 6006-2rs, found good prices on ebay b4, and only get named brands like SKF or FAG to ensure they'll last. Ps they also might say "C3" this is extra clearence for high temp apps, like fast running.

Thanks Guy's.
I am going to drop the front wheel out tonight.
As the Bike is coming up to 30,000 Miles should I replace them front & Back?

Personally I would, if they have not been changed before!

I must admit I need to change mine but it's finding the right time, they are sure to fail at the most inconvenient time!

The wheel bearing, front and rear, are 6005-2RS and the sprocket carrier bearings are 6006-2RS. I can recommend www. bike bearings.co.uk for good prices and fast delivery.
You'll have to cut and paste the link with the spaces missed out. Every time I tried to paste the link it went wonky
