Blue Printing - Is it worth the money?

Guys and gals, last year I spoke to a company (hot duke specialist) about getting my engine blue printed and basically we're talking a minimum of £900 plus any parts. There's nowt wrong with the old girl but I have this feeling that I'd get some performance improvements plus peace of mind that all was well with her internals.

Has anyone had this done, and is it worth the money? Are there any real benefits? My bike has only done just over 10k but I do run her in the latter part of the rev range when I'm out.

The short anser is yes there is. I spend 10 hours a day bluprinting ducati engines and prepairing cylinderheads from all across the world ranging from road bikes to superbike teams . A blueprinted engine will give you a much smoother ride due to the fine balancing of the crank (not all firms do this automatically) and if you dont the bluprinting goes to waste. Whilst the engine is apart there are many things you can do to make the most of the standard componants for much more performance. My advice is to shop around as there is more bang for buck to be had.

Your welcome to pop by for a cuppa here to see how it all works and goes together . Others i know who are worthy of a great job would be steve hillary at motorapido or nelly at cornerspeed.

It is deffo worth having it done, I would recomend it, Ducati tolerances are not the best as I have seen this 1st hand as Chris had done my previous 998 engine, gearchanges were a lost smother and general allround running was improved, done 6 trackdays and 9k of fast road riding in 8mths. Chris is also blueprinting my latest project which uses F03 crankcases with 104mm barrels and 999R heads with a 998S crank (1078cc)
