Talking Engine numbers,Frame numbers?

Hi all,.. so i've just put a deposit down on my dream bike Ducati 916 ( that sounds good every time i say it he,he) Now i'm going back to the guy to hand over my hard earned cash in a few days,. now i know when i get there i'm going to be so excited, mesmerized by that shine bright red paint work, ( O it's red by the way) and those white letters, and forget half the things i should be checking... but i've got to bring my head back on my shoulders and make sure the piece of paper in front of me, matches the bike 3ft from me. Wheres the frame and engine numbers, are they in more than one place? she's a 1997 model.

thanks for your help,. Mic

The frame number is stamped on the right hand of the head stock.

To get at the engine number, the left hand fairing will have to be taken off. The number is stamped on the crank case.

Good choice of bike mate
You buying from a dealer or private.
An HPI check is a must to avoid any nasties like stolen, finance outstanding and written off.
I nice thick file of service receipts is also a sign of a bike that has been loved.
If no history then at least barter in the cost of a belt change when you haggle the price down but I am sure you will know all of this.
Good luck with the purchase and post some pics for us all to enjoy
