916 Engine purchase
Thinking of getting a new engine to replace a worn out one. I contacted someone today & this was the response...
The engine is from a 1994 916 Strada. The bike had a mileage of 35233km's which is 22000 miles. Listed in the service history with the bike, it was last serviced by Tec Moto in Essex (Italian Superbike specialist) on 20/09/06 and this was a cam belt service. It had a mileage of 34775km's when serviced so only 458km's (286 miles) ago. The service lists valve cover and rocker pin gaskets, so has also had the internal inspections by the looks. The service had over 7 hours of labour listed.
It's previous service was an extensive 'C' service at Two-Four Italia back in 03/02/03 at 33141kms. That included 4 half rings, 4 closing shims and 3 opening shims, belts, gaskets etc. This was all carried out only 2000kms ago. The total service included 11 hours of labour but that was also including new fork oil and fuel filters
A copy of the service history will be supplied with the engine to continue / maintain the history of the receiving machine.
Now....fair play to the man as he could have said its done 500 miles but he has,nt. Does anyone have any comments as to if this would be a viable option to purchase. I know nothing about the quattro , but loads about the stretta. Any help appreciated
