Glad you are ok.

Was the bike on its side and running for any length of time? If so may be a strip down of the motor to make sure there is no oil starvation damage.

Glad to hear you came away mainly unscathed Funky.

To reiterate everyone elses comments: screw the old f*cker for every last penny you can ring out of him & have him done for attempting to leave the scene and assault!

As said...don't ride the bike anymore...get the dealer to collect it...have it checked over thoroughly in case of bent frame, bent forks, bent wheels, etc. Definitely have yourself checked over for any damaged joints etc...my mate got £5000 iirc for whiplash that he got in a car accident.

Read your link Triple9..absolute tragedy mate..This is small potatoes in comparison..At least Im sunny side up...Thank you lucky stars youre okay too.
Im aching a bit today, shoulders (either side of my neck), quads, left elbow and my right hand little finger knuckle has swollen (?!)...Its a little worrying as im a professional guitarist but they are all very minor injuries. Im going to the Docs tomorrow.
Called my insurance-basically the brokers' first question was, "Was the motorist joining from a side road?", after that it was pretty much textbook. In his opinion it should be a fairly straight forward claim, although there are never any guarantees..he also advised me to claim for replacement bike hire (saying a family member would be inconvenienced), and also my safety gear etc etc. Whilst on hold he called the other party for his insurance company and hehung up on him, apparently about 6 times!! At least the broker realises i was telling the truth about the old codger hitting me round the head!
Even in the ditch i thought the bike looked cool...probably just a bit dazed heh?

Where there's blame, there's a claim!

Jeez you were lucky dude, how come on Bikes we get taught about car awareness but on Car lessons dont do sod all about bike awareness. Same thing happened to me about 7 years ago in a 4X4 and the old codger still didnt see me even when i skidded past him on the opposite side of the road.................he just drove off,......same story hot pursuit followed,,,, etc etc.
Everything from a knackered glove, to scratched wris****ch, to new tyres you want it back immaculate, and not to mention the whiplash and bruising, remember that ond insurance analagy - "Where theres blame, theres a claim" so in true acceptance...............claim for it all and the inconvienience!
Hope it all works out for you and the old git has to take one of them politzi safety days as well as it sounds like he needs an eye test and a brain.

Funky,

Thats one scarry moment. Glad you are OK and the bike is OKish. I agree with everything thats been said before sue the old git for everything you can. If the insurance company wont, the either use a specialist company or launch a private action.

We've got to keep these 916's running.

Hi Funkyrimpler, glad you're not too badly hurt - don't want to lose a member of the Sherwood Forest Gang.

As the others have said, do have those injuries AND the bike checked out and claim for every little thing. I had an issue years ago when someone drove into my car and later tried to deny anything had ever happened. I ended up using a solicitor and got all repairs and use of a hire car paid for.

What reaction from the Police when they became aware of the assault witnessed by others? I would have thought they would take a dim view of this. Even the aristocrats can be sent down for road rage assaults:

BBC NEWS | England | Oxfordshire | 'Road rage' marquess sent to jail

Good luck mate

I don't know how these things work over there, but I would think an assult charge against him would do wonders for your insurance case...

Glad to hear you made it out relatively unscathed.
