mmmmm
That is very worrying to hear, and not just about the Mag case. Now I'm going to have to look for one unless you have one available Mr R? Feel free to PM me.

Hi there
I own a genuine factory 955sp, i bought it from Pro twins 8 years ago now, its probably one of the only left thats totally unmolested and as it came from the factory, it sits in my living room as i dont road ride anymore.

Well I can tell you there is one more in California thats original and in 9/10 condition at least. #004. Mine sits in the garage and gets ridden approx. every other Sunday. Try it, it's a blast

Come on guys these bikes are never "molested"! All the bikes I have ever seen have had extras like decent rearsets, some more carbon, new wheels etc.
Im biased because my standard bits are on a shelf (for if Hell Freezes over and I have to sell it) and my bike is clad in top WSB Ohlins, Brembos, Carbon and Magnesium that are each as rare if not rarer than the bike itself. I know the trend is for rare bikes to be original but I think when it looks IDENTICAL to a more common 916SP then tasteful mods are in order.
There is one for sale at the moment if its real... the fairings are wrong and its a bit hardcore!:

I was in the UK for three weeks in June and went over to JHP as it's close to where my parents live. I saw the bike in question and i'll tell you all something, it didn't look that good. For starters, it may have a plaque on the yoke/triple clamp, but the scroll writing is the more modern Ducati script saying '955SP'. The script it's written in didn't appear on Ducs until 1998. The bodywork is for a >98 Ducati which is a shame as these bikes should be left somewhat with their original fairings. A lot of 'non-Ducati extras, such as the rear shock spring wasn't an Ohlins piece, and crap to make it look like a race bike? Sorry, but overall condition wasn't great.
I'm with you Hugh on adding such 'OEM after-market parts' such as Ohlins forks, DP rearsets, Marchesini alloys, etc. As long as Ducati used those parts either in production or on the race track, then having such parts on your bike isn't molesting it! Besides, most people want those extras on a Ducati, even when it comes time to sell/buy.

Ripper and 955sp, I certainly wouldn't argue anything either of you said. And I would love to have a set of 3 spoke marchesini mag. wheels for mine. But a set of BST's will be more likely. The Ohlins cartridged Showa's work fine for me at this point. But I don't track it and most likely won't. Well, maybe once or twice....
