Correction, there are almost 600 miles on the speedometer. Here is the engine # ZDM955(W or U, not sure)4*000002*. Whether the letter in question is a W or U is not clear. I will take a close up picture of it and send some pictures. Does anyone on this site have any 916's they are parting out? I am making a list of stuff I need. I'm not too crazy about using e-bay but I will if I can get a lot of the parts @ the same time in order to reduce the "shipping and handling" gouging process. I will need stuff like a wiring harness, headlight assy, tail lignt assy, front blinkers, front brake lever, clutch cover, windscreen, rear carbon fiber piece that holds the blinkers and tagW/ mounting hardware,Bolts that mount the kick stand, and various nuts and bolts. I also have some carbon fiber stuff, body fairing pieces and seat, and exhaust that I will be getting rid of when I'm finished. Also, someone that lives close by with duck knowledge would be most helpful. I really don't know what needs to be replaced because I haven't been this close to a 916 or 955 before this to realize what should be considered factory standards. I want this bike back showroom new.

Hi Jay. Ducatisti is a UK based site, although we do have a few US members. So the chances are that our experts are a good few thousand clicks from you! As an online resource though, this is a fantastic site & we have a good laugh on here.
Another resource for you might be Ducati.ms - The Ultimate Ducati Forum - Home ,which is a US based site, but not half as friendly as here, and the mods are really hot on shutting down new threads that cover the same subject as one posted in the (sometimes distant) past if they think you haven't used the search facility enough. Plenty of bikes being parted out there, but the classifieds aren't as well organised as here either.
Anyway, welcome & good luck in your hunt for parts!
Post some pictures of the project!

The letter will be W4 - Water cooled 4 Stroke....its to identify te engine type; ZDM is Ducati Bologna Plant;955 is the model type and *000002* is the sequential production number through the plant - which makes yours the second 955 to roll out of the factory.........

Yea, I know it'll look good sitting next to the RC30, but I am curious to know what it'll be worth when I get finished.

Gotta tell ya mate that I'm restoring a 955 SPA and I used Ebay to buy all of the body panels that needed to be replaced. I recommend a guy called 'gotham cycles' from Florida on Ebay. His parts were excellent. I also used Ebay to buy a set of 'used once by Larry Pegram' magnesium Marchesini 5 spoke wheels, (It was a case of right place at the right time for the right place with the wheels...they're beautiful), and on Ebay UK, I bought a set of DP rear sets. I put out a 'wanted' ad on the Ducati MS site for a gas tank. Someone responded and, shazzam, Tim, a decent person, PM'ed me and I had a tank for a very good price. I had already made a decision to go high-end with the after-market parts and had budgeted accordingly. Scott, Desmoto Sport's owner here in San Francisco, gave me a great deal on a set of Ohlins' forks and triple clamp and someone I knew from the 888 website located in Belgium sold me a set of Moto Gp monobloc Brembo calipers for a third of their original price. The only thing new that I bought new was replacement carbon fiber from eMoto in the UK, (their CF is fantastic, I have it on my MV F4). That's it. The best part is, is that no-one screwed me with the S&H. It was all very reasonable. I will say that Scott told me that the hardest parts to find for any 916/996 nowadays will be the body parts and the marchesini wheels. I lucked out.

Hey Ripper,
Thanks for the info. I have used E-Bay in the past with success for parts for the cars I have restored. I would just like to get as many parts as possible at the same time in the same box. I have been checking everything out that is currently on the auction block and a lot of the stuff I need is there.
thanks,
jay
