New to Board w/ duck (1996 955SP)
Hi Y'all,
I have finally decided to get my 1996 955SP back into shape. It has been sitting for a long time. It was purchased new by a family member and I got hold of it a few years ago. It was featured in the June 1997 issue of Sport Rider magazine. Iwill be needing a few parts for it if anyone knows a good place to purchase stuff. Oh yea, it is serial #00002 and the speedo has only 185 miles registered. how about that! I took it down the road right after I got it and it screams. ........... So does my Honda RC30.

Hello JM Welcome. but if this bike has been layed up for a long while do you really think it a good idea to just go for a blast. Or did you omit telling us that you had it all checked over and the belts replaced and brake fluid changed etc.

The Bike had been ridden occasionally before I got it. I took it for a spin the day I purchased it. It has not been run in the few years it has been in my posession.

Not a good idea you need to get some preventative maintenance done on it then.

Yea, you are right. I will be looking for info and a list of correct fluids to do a good servicing. I have the fairings and stuff off right now and am giving it a good cleaning. I want to make sure it is ready to go before I ride it again. I have sold some other projects and have finally made the room and time availability to begin this project. I am glad I found this forum to maybe get some info that I need to proceed.

If nothing esle - change the timing belts - if ones of those let go or jumped a tooth - that'll be one BIG repair bill on a 955...

Welcome Jay M!
I knew that starting a 955 Room would bring other owners out of the wood work!
See Dan thats 2 now! only 51 or 47 to go... (depending on who you ask).
Would Jay M and Ripper996 would you both add some pictures of your bike and maybe of the engine number in the More Ducati 955, any of them yours? thread so we can try to get a list together.

The engine number is not a problem. It'll be a while until I get it back together for pictures. If there is any way to get the article from the Cycle Rider mag, the history of the bike and the original owner is there. I'll try to scan the article and add it when I get a chance.
