Trust me, the winning bidder got a great deal. I wouldn't let mine go for that price or anything under $30K, especially if he says that there are only 19 left in the USA. I wonder how many are left in the world?

Hi Guys
How do you know diffference 'tween a 916SP and a 916SPa ??
That bike looked and description was very like mine - if its just a cc thing, then ok mine is prob just a standard SP.
I suppose when i got my confirmation from Ducati Italy (when i bought mine) they would have said if it was an SPa rather than just an SP ? wouldnt they? Never thought to ask what its cc was at production?!? Maybe i shud get her bored out!? Naaah!
Just wishful thinking!! $13k would be nice - but i still prob wudnt sell!
Its a lurve thang!

I know I am. In fact, I spoke to the new owner this morning and he's thrilled. I did tell him about my find, which was very exceptional and lucky, but this guy really did find a bargain as it was posted for sale for all to see. One question he asked me which I wasn't sure about is this: were the frames made for the 955SP's regular 916 frames or was there a difference as the bikes were hand made at the old Ducati Racing/Corse factory?
Pick up your bike yet 955SP? Mine will be ready mid-March.

I think the frames are standard, hence no exciting frame number and my bike should be ready end of March beginning of April! Its a waiting game with this one!

955sp at least
new poster to this forum. I'm the guy that bought the mentioned 955 on ebay in the US. Actually my wife bought it. her ebay account. After hearing me rave about it for an hour, and seeing I had gone to $11k, she pulled the trigger...
Engine # ZDM955 000004
I have talked to the owner of the shop where it was fully serviced last November. All original, in nice but not garage queen condition from what I can see. A guy on the Ducati.ms forum went to the shop and took a bunch of pictures.
I should have it in hand next week to keep my charcoal black '92 SS (that I bought new) company.
Cheers, nice forum here.

955sp finally arrived.
And it looks great. Cosmetically better than I expected. Much closer to garage queen level than I expected too. All original, which is how it's going to stay.
After a short ride I noticed coolant dripping out the front of the fairing, which turned out to be a loose hose clamp. It made the first right hander REALLY interesting.
Tightened the hose clamp, (verified it has a 955 engine number) then took a longer test ride..this bike rocks. spins up very quickly, feels quicker to rev than the 848 I rode over the weekend. Off course with stock pipes the 848 was fairly stifled. I have to say for the same money I am very happy with my choice. The 848 was nice but didn't leave me with any sort of "must have" feel. Hope I don't offend anyone with this take.
The 955 is really smooth at steady throttle, but rolling it on it feels like rapid fire cannons going off, much more so than my fairly seriously built 900ss. And of course it starts to pull hard at 6k, building through 8500, which is as high as I rev'd it on the first ride. I thought after riding supersports for so long the riding position would feel extreme, but it doesn't. Actually less "ass up-head down" than the 848.
I'll get some pics posted soon.
