Hi, It looks really nice, even better if it's had £23k spent on it from new......and has the bills to prove.
If you don't know a lot about Dukes then it might be best to get an engineers inspection. Don't just dive in!

I have a '95 916 SP which doesnt look half as trick as that!! £5500 not huge money for a SPS, wheels alone £1k, which im looking for a set btw but dont have money for em yet! My feeling would be if he is original owner who spent all the money on it, its gotta be looked after, if only £2k miles on it, its never been used so i wud give it a full exploration service and at least new belts, budget £500(non dealer) for this, offer him £5k mate or less, she looks good to me!
I paid just under 3 for mine, and i got a 916 plate too 8) but as i said not as trick as that, and mines older. but i wudnt change her for the world! :P
Its a love thang!

I see he's selling his car too, is he emigrating or something? Definitely worth a punt, but at this time of year you are in a great bargaining postion on what is after all a bike coming up 10 years old.

The 955 is an unusual capacity, Ducati did produce a few 955cc bikes but they were all full on race bikes, top spec, not road bikes. Could this be one of them?
If so, or if it has a race 955 engine in it, it may require some specialist attention come service time which may cost a bit. The full spec race bikes had aggressive cam profiles and titanium top ends / conrods etc, the valves need replacing periodically (interval dependant on cams fitted) and cost a grand in parts alone!
Best ask a few questions before comitting to buy .. .

as far as i am aware, a 955ss is a big bore of the 916, but for race use only, i'm sure there's only 50 of them, pro twins have one!
