955SP on Ebay?

Any thoughts on this?
1997 DUCATI RED 955 SP on eBay, also, Ducati, Motorcycles Scooters, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 04-May-09 22:02:45 BST)

I suppose the first question would be does it have a 955 engine number?

I assume for the "modified from new" statement its not an original, still a lovely looking bike though

I agree with Jimmy, a grey import 916SP modified to near 955 spec, Showa forks and Ohlins rears, ally subframe, iron discs.
Falloon says only 54 made as 955SPAs (Sport Production America) and the engine numbers are in the ZDM955 series so easy to confirm.
Funny looking fretting on the clock surrounds.
Display stands?.... I suppose you can work out why the bike has so low mileage.
I wonder what the 955ers will make of it

955Sp on ebay

You all know of course the originals came with 916 stickers on the fairing. From the add I would guess it's a 916SP with an overbore kit. Likes nice though. The US 955SP's also did not come with a carbon air box, and they were for the 1996 motor year only.

Mine is a 1997 P reg (English Registration) but mine might have come a bit later than the first batch, also mine came standard with a carbon airbox! I have read that back then you could order 2 916SP bikes and one would come with a carbon airbox and the other wouldnt, one might have a carbon chainguard the other not?! I think back then in their "shed" they fitted on whatever was lying around! But I love that about old Ducatis, DNA will never do these special low number bikes again. Imagine if Ducati made a limited run 50 hush, hush 1248R or 898R bikes for some reason. I know they made the Desmo and the MH900E but they werent exactly low volume like the Supermono or the 955.

Back to the bike on ebay, it does look great but according to the listing "it does not come with any ducati service history". Shame when people dont keep records or dont get them serviced.
