Back in July 2000, I was hit by some moron on the Freeway who was changing lanes and clearly wasn't using his side mirrors, which in the US are basically optional extras. Luckily, the only real damage to my SPS was cosmetic. The original color of my bike was red, but after looking at Paulo Casoli's WSS yellow Ducati, I decided to buy the official Ducati Casoli sticker kit and have my SPS painted professionally. I bought CF front and tail pieces and had the painter leave the number '1' clear-coated over the CF and paint the rest. All the other decals were lacquered over. Eight years later, the paint job is as fresh as it was back in 2000 and it still looks bitchin'. Stickers/decals can look ****e when just stuck on for the hell of it, but if the job's done right, they can look awesome.

A few stickers can make the bike look more individual, but if you go 'over the top' then people will expect the real thing and then it'll be let down on closer inspection.

I agree, a few stickers can some times be effective. But I would not laquer them in.
Attached are some pic's of my old bike, all bodywork etc is un-painted carbon fibre, rest is all decals. There is no paint on the bodywork at all. These decals can be easily removed and updated, or removed and left off if you've had enough. I had my bike in Fila, Ducati 749 performance and then Xerox. Cost less than £150 a time to fully change the look of the bike.
