Members Bike - Matty's 2000 Ducati 996SPS
Hi,

Been on the site for a month or so now, attended two meets/rideouts so I thought it about time I put some pics of my 996SPS up for viewing.
I got the bike in the summer of 2005 from DK while on two weeks holiday from a hot sandy place I was working in yet again. I was reading a mates MCN on the plane back and saw they had a RSVR Edwards Rep in which I had always wanted.
When I was in the showroom looking at the RSVR's later that same day when I spotted the Ducati section, and standing out from the crowd was the 996SPS. I picked the bike up a week later and have loved every minute of owning it since.
It came with lots of carbon on it from the bloke who owned it before. The only things I have changed to the bike are carbon airtubes, rearsets, MBC slipper clutch, clutch cover and heel guards.

Regards
Matty

Lovely bike Matty (biased? moi?)

I'll add a link to this thread into the 996 Owners Register when I have a mo.

If I've missed any other 996 Owners off, please give me a shout!

Cheers

Very nice Matty from another very biased ducatisti

916/996SPS = Best ever ducati road bike imho and you have a very nice example there

One thing though.Have you considered changing the brake calipers to the later 4 pad design.I used them and found power and feel was much improved.Keep your eye out on ebay and you could grab another bargain.Aprillia RSVR's use the same spec brembos so check them out on ebay too.

Must say thats a nice looking slipper clutch you got there matty and cover looks sweat.Hmm looks like you have caught the ducati performance bug as well.Cut up your credit cards now before theres nothing left.

Lovely bike mmatty.....one thing though (pleeeeeease dont take this the wrong way)- are the exhaust heat shield and rear set shield on the off side of the bike, right ?

One looks to be fouling the other........think one of them might be the wrong one ??? Or is this just me being picky ?

That one is modelled after a standard 996 heel-plate. The ones off the race bikes (RS) fit slightly better - I'll pop a pic-up later.

Still a lovely bike tho

Yeah the fit is not right.

The problem stems from two weeks ago when I fitted the new rearsets. The old standard rearsets used a diff type of heelguard. When I fitted the new rearsets I also fitted the new corse type heelguards.

What I need is a shorter exhaust guard I think, but to be honest I am prob just gonna leave it as I cant be bothered to buy a new carbon short exhaust guard just because the fit is just off.

Hi,

I have not changed the Eprom to a custom map, and as for the airtubes I simply took the old ones off and fitted the carbon ones. I didnt touch the airfilter.
