Ah, Lissa! A woman of taste!

Without wishing to be sexist, you'll no doubt have a hairdryer (none of my male friends have their own, so I hope I'm not generalising here!). Be a sport & aim it at the stickers till they start to lift! I'm not going to suggest anything about using your nails though, as I can see that getting me in trouble whichever way! ("What? Risk my manicure picking stickers off? Are you Mad?" or "Are you suggesting that because I'm a woman I have long nails?").

I'd better stop now, cos if I carry on, the hole I could dig for myself would require a rather large shovel to fill in!

No hairdryer I'm afraid..............I hate helmet hair so just have a no. 5 all over. So much easier. Finger nails...............hmmm.................those I don't break at work are certainly long enough to pick stickers off with

Oh, and if you need a shovel, just ask

Hi Martin,

How are you, Hun? Got yours fixed yet or still a work in progress?

And there's nothing wrong with yellow

Ok,

Just got it, but here's the story so far.

Registered 05/05/01 at dealers Bob Hill M/cs Hertford.

Now 3 previous owners.

13k miles.

New clutch fitted at 8,500.

Extras: Carbon Termis, See-through vented clutch cover, frame plugs, odd gear linkage, carbon hugger, sticker kit and side stand bypass doobry. Alarm and Datatag. 180 rear.

Needs a tune up and lower gearing IMO. Bike is hard to ride around town. Lots of clutch slipping. Not good.

First impressions: Brakes stonking. Front that is. Rear is criminally absent. Strong midrange although it can stutter if asked to accelerate around 4k. Haven't taken it over 7k yet. At the moment there is no need. That's around 120, allegedly. Handling is taking a bit of getting used to, but there are a variety of adjustments to sort that out. Rides very nicely though and Lissa loves it on the back. To be honest it looks like it has hardly seen a wet road so clean is it. Biggest disappointment is the fact that we can't hear the Termis.

So there you have it. Updates as we put more mileage on it and hopefully sharpen the handling.

Nice one!

I'll add a link from the Ducati 996 Bike Reviews (Owners Register)

Do you want me to use the pic in your first post, or do you have a different one you'd prefer me to use?

Just put 750 miles on the 996 this weekend. Loads of rain but it never missed a beat. And both of us can still walk normally.

Pics after our trip up to The Borders.

Yorkminster

Kielder

Somewhere hilly

Tibetan Buddhist Monastery

Small Castle

Hartside Cafe

Update.

Done about 1400 miles on her now.

Belts and fork oil changed courtesy of Jeff at GTEC. (Excellent service and such a nice chap) Old belts did look decidely secondhand but no obvious signs of imminent failure.

Also Jeff put in some base settings on the suspension for two up riding but left the ride height as I'd set it.

Bike now tips in nicely and tracks more reliably. A new 180 rear may also be helping though.

Also, in an attempt to keep my licence, I've fitted a bar end mirror. Not the prettiest thing although now I know it works I'll hunt down a more stylish one.

Next is to change the front sprocket for a 14 toother. This is just a short term mod until I need to replace chain and sprockets then I'll probably go up 3 on the back and return to a 15 front.

Another trip to Scotland is in the pipeline (4 weeks to go) plus a trip to Wales this weekend.

Let the good times roll.

Covered over 6k now.

Fitted a 14 tooth front sprocket, in fact my second one as the chain still seems ok. Bought a Renthal sprocket carrier of of ebay and fitted a 36 tooth sprocket on that.
Carrier from Ebay £94, but got a lightened hub (wrongly listed as being a Corse item)
Sprockets £52 from local guy.

Fitted a JHP 50mm non-carbon half system. Improved the response and sound nice too. Ebay £210

Most important purchase has been the FG paddock stand. Ebay £40

Fitted a c/f swingarm cover, tank protector ,pillion and rider c/f heel plates, and v piece. All off of ebay and cost about £140 in total.

Already had an open clutch cover, so just cleaned up the pressure plate and bought some new black collets and stainless springs. £30 Ebay.

Also replaced the standard rear disc with a Braking Wave wavy. Just cos they look nice.

Recently won a c/f number plate hanger, Ebay £40, and still have the speedo surround to fit.

The purchase that most tickles our fancy though has to be the Italian flag colour reflector.

Apart from an oil change, new rubber and the previously mentioned cam belts I've not spent anything on maintenance costs. That is about to change though, as it's due in for the big service this weekend.

I'll post an update after that.
