Members Bike - Diamondbrit73's Ducati 996
Found this site by following a searh for the new 1098! and now registered!
My name is Adam and i live on the south coast between Brighton and Eastbourne! moved from London and now have a decent ride in both directions without 30 mins of London traffic!
I started by ducati experiance after passing my test and rode my old mans 900ss damarh for a year! rode it to Assen and clocked up a few miles and that was it! hooked.
I then Got a 600ss that was going cheap and thrashed aroung on that for a bit! (still in the garage thought!)
I then purchased my all time favourite a 996. have done many miles and a few trackdays (Both at brands in the wet!) and if its to crap to go out ill just admire it in my garage! lol
Anyway now well up for doing more trackdays so im part way though a track bike build! have a running chasis and hope to have it fired up by next spring!
Have had one bad experiance when my clutch sezied up and basically exploded in the cover! was only doing 10 or so mph so it was'nt that bad but its not nice having a duke that you cant jump on and ride when you want!
Got it sorted though and now have a lightweight alloy basket and plated , and JHP vented clutch cover!
Now im here i hope to learn and share the ducati way! lol

Nice bike Diamond. Mine "pops" from both ends on shut down sometimes. Never seen the pipe glowing but then it's daytime when I ride. I'm not keen on night riding unless I have to.
Don't know what temperature the exhaust reaches near the manifold but it's
gonna be pretty darn hot so I would not be surprised to see it glowing!
BTW bike only just started this morning will see what happens with a new battery.
Ooops, sorry mate wrong thread

Cheers Oldie,
What i love to do is ramp up the speed as im going into a tunnel then with a blip drop down a gear and ease off the throttle to get a lovely popping and flame! makes me smile anyway! LOL

The 916-998 is such an iconic bike, watching it race in WSBK just made me want one more!
when the chance came up to buy one i jumped at the chance..my mate had been going on about his mate selling his 996! when i heard this i got the bug bad but everytime it came up it fell by the way side!
Finallly it was on! £5K in 50's in my pocket and the deal is done! the rest is history!
I have now done about 8500 mile in a couple of years, 2 trackdays (both wet)
2 trips to Assen WSBK and a trip through France, and im still smiling.
Now im building a 996 track bike and ill be buying a 1098 next year!
996 BP 1999
50mm Termi's full System and Ducati performance chip
SPS Tail piece
Carbon hugger
Carbon chain guard
DID chain
Carbon SPS Airbox
JHP Filter
JHP Vented clutch cover
Alloy clutch basket and plates
Alloy clutch plate with stainless springs
Carbon front mud guard
SPS cast iron front discs
Marchesini Magnesium wheels (Gold)
Pirelli super corsa's
the spec so far!
The best about a 996
You smile before you even get on it!
You can look at it when the weather to bad!
You turn the key and you grin gets even bigger.
Every trip is an adventure.
Every bend is like a rail track.
The way you can listen to the sound of the bike and under stand what its doing.
The way you can slow down with out using the brakes! extreme engine braking!
Getting the back sliding (see above)
the list goes on!
Bad bits
remembering to always put your ear plugs in!
when the weathers crap and you can take it out!
The back end going out at Brands Hatch trying to find the level of grip!
The distance to any Ducati dealers on the south coast.
I had heard the horror stories from people who had problems but unless you try you will never know! my theory is i had a bike that was built on a Wendsday.
If you get a Ducati built at the Factory on a Monday or Friday you gona have problems!
lol How do you feel on a Monday morning and Friday Afternoon at work!!!
