I've Crashed my Baby - HELP!

Talk about sick as a dog....took my baby out for a spin yesterday...first time this year.

I only went and lost the back end ( cold tyres )....right inthe middle of Straford on Avon . I hope none of you out there saw it.

I dont give a sh*t abou the embarassment factor or indeed that i'm battered and bruised ...but the state of my 999R Fila Rep was enough to bring me to tears ( literally). I'm devastated

Dont really know what to do from here in . Its gonna be close in terms of whether she'll be a right off...estimate so far is £7,000 for parts only....

She's a 2004 999R genuine Fila Rep. 1,500 genuine miles and (was) absolutely immaculate.

Would really appreciate some advice peeps:-

a) Whats her market value ?? I reckon £11 - £13K ??? Would you agree ?
I'm concerned insurers will play silly buggers

b) Will she ever be the same if repaired ?? I think that would worry me slightly .If i get a choice, do I want her back damage repaired or should I accept pay out ?

In terms of damage, I've damaged every carbon panel from font to back on the left hand side, indicators, left handle bar, clutch lever, swingarm, footpegs bent in , gear peg and linkage knackered...you name it down that side its been affected.

My pals have said to me in a vain attempt to cheer me up ..."just get yourself a 1098" but to be fair I'd rather have my 999R FILA... I really would

ABSOLUTELY GUTTED

And who wouldn't be. I feel for you mate. I'd be bloody devastated too. I've had my eye on a r replacement for my s for some time..

But you walked away. Battered and bruised maybe but you walked away. I'm sure there are those around you who welcome that fact.

Good luck with the insurance. And remember with the 1098s and r all looking shiny there are a few 999rs coming on the market at sensible prices.

Cheers,

Bike: Bikeless :(

I'm really sorry to hear about your crash, I'm glad you're ok though.

To be honest I think you're going to have to readjust your expectations on value. 999R's are going for the £10k mark regularly, and yours is a pre-facelift model.

I wish you the best though

Cheers for the thoughts chaps

Maybe in a couple of days , things will become clearer...just cant think straight at the mo

In terms of value was hoping that because she's rare i.e Genuine FILA rep, she'd maybe fetch a bit more than £10K...

I maybe wrong though

Cheers

Always a gutting experience when you baby goes down. but as its been said at least your able to ride again things could be worse but you never feel like that when your lifting them back on the wheels does it. just hound the insurance! force it through. I got hit in a hit n run a while back went down on the other side of my 748 third party fire n theft (no proper claim) but you roll with it, £1500 or so to rebuild it

Sad to her of your accident, good new you are essentially unhurt?

If you really want to keep the 999r, then don't put it through the dreaded insurance. With a bit of time all the parts will turn up on e-bay or somewhere, and when considering the insurance renewal hike after a claim, you maybe better off not claiming. Unless of course the thing is inherently bent? in that case then claim away!

Really sorry to hear that Dunc

roads over here have been seriously slippy - even with dry bright sunny weather the roads have been lethal! I wanted to get the bike out on Sunday but shes not MOT'd at mo, so i took out my other toy (911) ) and it was spinning up and sliding about, i didnt feel confident at all - saw loads of bikes out too, but im glad i was on 4 wheels not 2!!

Did you lose back end on greasy road? low speed mid speed?? What a bummer!

If they(ins) write it off - can you not buy her back?? then fix up?

We feel ur pain mate!

Really sorry to read this, I and another lad passed close to Stratford yesterday i think cold wet roads and impregnated diesel in town centres were to blame.

I know how you feel, don't beat yourself up.

HI Dunc , I know how you feel mate it is gut wrenching.

Myself and my wife went out on a club this weekend and she had a front end washout on our trophy winning S4RS monster at low speed on the damp road and then to top it off I nearly ploughed into her bike on the replacement bike for the one I destroyed in Nov last year because of poor quality road works.

I know you love your FILA but the main thing is your ok , I felt sick seeing the woman I adore so much come off directly infront of me , she only had a bruised knee thank god ( full leather is the only way to go )

I broke my arm and hurt my shoulders in mine but overall I was very lucky seeing I slammed into a stone wall and even split the chin guard on my helment on the impact ( full leather again thank god )

As for your bike hopefully it wont be a write off and good repairer will have it looking as new and if it is a write off buy it back and repair it your self.

see the photo's of the bikes all our bikes ( 6 duc's) are immacute and it is very sad to see them damaged , look at the tank even my nads were black and blue

chin up mate

waz from OZ

Not sure how mechanical minded you are, but I would have turned the bike into a project bike.
We have the technology, she can be rebuilt. These ladies prefer carbon over silicone though so take your time and get what you want and not what you need.
Take the bike off the road, know deep down that you will not ride her for at least a year and take her apart and start from scratch. You will know how the internals working on that bike backwards at the end of it and the relationship will be even stronger. Nobody will ever pay you what the bike is worth to you.

Get well soon to th eboth of you

Blimey Dunc - what can I say? Gutted for you. I'd have been devastated if I'd come off my pride-n-joy Ducati. Glad to hear its only bruises on you though.
