Bike: 2004 Ducati 749

It seems no-one (or virtually no-one) has a bad word to say about these new Michelins.

And yet... I swore some time back I'd never buy a Michelin tyre.

They certainly used to be, shall we say, unpredictable in the wet, in my opinion. After my 900SS went from under me with zero warning after really quite gentle braking at around 30 mph on a dampish road, I said, never again. (This was the old Pilot Sports; on the bike when I bought it).

Once I'd had the fairing damage repaired and resprayed , and the bike re-shod in my usual Diablos (common or garden, not Corsa), I lost count of the number of times I said to myself, "but I just braked much harder, and in worse road conditions, than that time, and all was well, not so much as a twitch".

And yet; the good things I've heard on this forum, and elsewhere, are almost making me reconsider.

Mega soft tyres are not an option for me; much of my riding is commuting, and I do around a thousand miles a month.

I was talking to my local Ducati Specialist...Louigi Moto in Somerset...and he told me that the Mich 2 CT are the way that i should go...he has heard of nothing but good about them.

BMW also fit them as standard to their new HP2 Sport bike...i know a chap who owns one and he is really surprised about how good the tyres are.

Bike: 999R

Just put a set of BT-016's on my999r..really impressed with them for cold wet/dry Scottish weather.

Ive got the bike on 23.5 and set fairly stiff. The bike likes these tyres nearly as much as me.

Will give a heads-up later in April when I get a chance to try them on track.

Take care,

Frank
