Almost a new Ducati 999 owner!

Just agreed to buy my first Ducati after many years of muttering to myself - "I'll get one of those one day"!

Picked up an '03 999 with only 2.5K on the clock for a very good price & should be able to pick it up next weekend.

Comes with Termis fitted as well so that'll save me a fair bit.

Just need to start thinking about where to get it looked after and what "goodies" I might want to buy for it.

Oh - will need to get my Aprilia sold as well - shame really, it's an '02 Falco with full Ohlins front and rear, Mille polished swinger, Oz wheels, etc, etc.

Just never looked as sexy as the 999!

I used to commute 40 miles a day on a Falco and wanted the slightly more relaxed riding position and bigger tank range but these days I ahve a big Beemer for the commute so the fun bike is purely for fun.

I'm sure I'll be back for lots of advice once I get going. . . . . .

I'm in Henley, about 40 mins from the Ace I reckon.

Sometime use the A40 as my commute route but tend to use the M4 / A4 most days.

Wise choice, it is red isn't it?

The other "moley" who posts on the site (AKA half man, half mole) seems to think that yellow is faster ....well it sure is louder

Welcome to ducatisti!

It's most certainly red - I always thought that the "9" series should be red and the "7's" should be yellow!

Given the low mileage and excellent condition - anyone want to venture an estimate on price?

Hi Moley,

I've had my 03 999 Biposto for about 8 weeks now and been through the learning process Everything is alright now, and I've added aback 1000 miles of fun biking.

Now need to find a decent small place to service and genrally look after the duke. Also need a new clutch

Yes I know the feeling about Monoising a 999. Mine was a Biposto and the rear red pillion seat will be gone early next week. I have ordered one of them single seat all in from, Is it HC Race? there is a page on the site about them, a steal at £125 all in and that is it painted with a white No. board and gold lining the same as my front No. board I got from Motografix. Also I have removed the pegs for the pillion, the only thing that makes it look a little scabby is the brackets that are welded onto the frame but I am getting the frame done in the winter when the Bike is of the road. I may get them removed or not. Here is a photo of the bike just now. I can post a photo of the seat when I get it fitted.

I wonder what colour?

Here is the web site. Have a look.

I think mine was a bi that's been mono'd - it was advertised as a mono but the DVLA have it registered as a bi.

I'll own up to the final price paid when it turns up - I think the owner may think he agreed to sell it too cheap!

are you sure it needs a new clutch? the clutch makes all kinds of noise when you set off from a standstill - that's normal

It's arrived!

Took delivery today but battery was a bit on the low side so it's sitting quietly on the Optimate to bring it up to full charge again - should be on the road tomorrow.

Price, for those of you interested, was £5,300 - seems an amazing bargain from what I can see.

Mileage appears to be a genuine 2,500 (based on service book), has new tyres (Dunlop 207's) and Termis & it is a genuine Mono after all - at least I think it is!

All the origional dealer paperwork says Mono and it has the quick release side panels (which I think are standard on Monos).
