Fitting Brembo Master Cylinder

I've just had a look at fitting Brembo master cylinders to my 999 and I thought I'd have it done in 5mins but I've got a few issues (read that as questions):
  • there's not enough room...if I shave off the switch gears locator pin (it's only plastic) and move it as close to the throttle there's still no room. Fool I hear you cry, just move the throttle a couple of mm...however, if I do that the brake lever is in the wrong place, i.e. the bend. It's clear the racing master cylinder and lever were designed without road switchgear in mind have you guys got any advice on positioning the master cylinder, switch gear and throttle? Also, the clutch side has exactly the same problem...
  • there's a metal locator pin in the clip-on...can that be pulled out or do i have to grind it off?
  • I need to fit a pressure switch to keep the front brake light working, does that negate the performance improvement of the master cylinder?
  • Do you have to fit a pressure switch to the clutch side as well?
  • Is it possible to replace the road switch gear for something smaller?
  • Is this worth doing at all?
Making a mountain out of a mole hill but if I fit these I want to do it right...

Thx in advance,
Jason

Are the standard cylinders not Brembo then?? I thought they were.

Well, you already have Brembo Radial Master Cylinders to your brake and clutch so why the change? The pressure switch wont affect the Master Cylinder performance, you dont need one on the clutch...I'm not sure I see the point unless you are upgrading the whole brake system......

If I'm honest part of it was performance and the other bling, I just love the look of the after market master cylinders used on the WSB and AMA bikes. I assumed the after market Brenbo master cylinders would be of better quality than the ones used on the production 999's/749's, just like the difference between the forged and billet master cylinders for example...

You could always fit slightly longer after market bars.....

nagaromill999 it's crossed my mind.

andyb, are they aftermarket clip ons? Did you notice any benefit from the upgrade? I like the reservoir brackets, were they home made?

the bars and clip ons are harris. tbh i would go down this route anyway as the std bars are all in one with the clip on. this way you generally only damage the tube which are a lot cheaper to replace.

the brackets are home made along the style of the 998 ones.......

the radial 19x18 master cylinder has a much more positive feel than the std one, the levers feel better too ( and in black look better too)

You've got me thinking...I wasn't planning on spending cash on aftermarket clipons but now...

I fitted a brembo clutch to my 999 . piece of ****...

Main reason for change was the seal busting on my original , so bought a new short lever brembo , removed the locating pin fron the clip on & fitted it no probs
