I have a hole in my Carbon Fibre Cam Belt Cover

I have found a small hole on my carbon fibre cam belt cover!!

It is located next to one of the bolt holes.

My question is will this need replacing??? What will happen if water gets into the area of the belts?

I am gutted and I feel I will have to buy a new cover!!!

Thanks in advance!

Carl

If it is not big and does not get bigger ignore it. You have now a race vented cover.
Water is not a problem as you said hole is small, it is hot in there and centrifuge force will not allow it to stay there long.

Carl

A Ducati will run perfectly well without cam-belt covers, so I wouldn't worry about this.

They are not perfectly sealed anyway when you wash the bike some water may or may not get in there without a hole. Don't worry about it.

If you want to fix this quickly and cheaply, remove the cover and stick a piece of masking tape over the hole on the outside, then mix some two pack epoxy (available from any marine chandlers) and fill the hole from the back of the cover leaving a slightly raised area, let the epoxy cure completely and then remove tape from the face of the cover, this can then be touched in with any black/grey touch up paint.
