Heads up to the guys i met at the Creg IOMTT

Hope you guys had a fantastic time and all got back safely.
Cheers for stopping and lending a hand.
I managed to limp back to the camp site with my horribly oily tire, and borrowed a couple of 19mm spanners from a very friendly chap. Job done!
I just wish i had noticed it before i took on the mountain with 150mph plus and knee down moments!
Still, it was a could have been moment which is all that counts.

Bike: 2006 749 Gloss Black

That could have been a shocker. What was the problem?

"couple of 19mm spanners" - I would guess at an oil cooler pipe?

Yes, two spanners to first loosen the outer nut, then tighten the inner nut, gently! and re tighten the outer.
As we all know, these things vibrate a little, i would recommend checking these regularly in future, as this is the second time this has happened now.
It just hit home a little more this time due to the nature and location of the miss hap.

In short, the return feed for the oil cooler had come loose and leaked oil, with the speed i was going, and the alarming quantity of oil, it had made its way under the engine, and all over my swinging arm and rear wheel/tyre. Nice
