Ducati 999 Intermittent Head-Light Problem?

Bike had a tumble in the garage recently after which the headlights decided to give up. Checked bulbs, fuses and connections along the loom with no joy. MOT came up s opted for a daytime MOT. Then 3 days later getting ready to ride notice headlights on, had been all night without the switches turned on or keys even in the ignition???? Of course this flattened the battery so have had to disconnect the lights. All indicators and rear lights work normally. Display on speedo when turning on ignition and with left trip button pressed diplays an error code EFI ????
Can anyone help or no of this problem?

Press and hold the left hand button on the clocks when you turn the ignition on to display the error code the ECU has flagged then have a look at what it relates to and go from there

999 dodgy lights

already pressed the left button and turned on ignition. Displays shows code error 'EFI' or 'EF1'. Strange that once working lights should go so very wrong for no obvious reason. Maybe this is the joy of ducati ownership?

Hi Fuszard, had a similiar defect on my bike where the headlights did their own thing (all except staying on at night). In my case it was a faulty relay that needed replacing. The relay lives in the headlamp casing (post 05) or behind the battery next to the ecu (pre 05). It can be swapped with the injection relay (lives by the ecu) for fault finding. Hope this helps

Bike: 2006 999R

Displays shows code error 'EFI' or 'EF1'. That does not seem to be an error code. the codes that i have seen do not contain letters only numbers.

Have managed after some time to try and fix me lights. Found that the relay under the headlight unit was badly corroded, replaced it and now all seems fine.
