Fitting Carbon Airtube Covers on my Ducati 999s?

Hey folks

I dunno if anyone on here has fitted these, I had some arrive today any they look the dogs nuts and they fitted in 5 mins, simple.

Thing is, the OE plastic items have foam padding glued to the underside, I guess to give a bit of padding between the cover and the airtube itself...I don't think it is for stopping vibration or anything else?!?

Question is, has anyone else fitted these and if so have they tried removing the foam from the OE items and applying to the carbon items?

I haven't tried...the carbon items do flex a bit more, but there appears to be no vibration/rattling from not having the padding

Sorry no pics to explain, thanks

If you want to have some foam padding Frenchy use some door frame draft excluder it does the job

Check them out here. I was very lucky, they were not on 'Buy it now' but they topped out at £102. I had been watching them for a while, they are on Ebay every week and usually go for £115-120, (you can but them directly off their site for £125). They are very well made!

I am going to take Jimbob's advise and put some short strips of self adhesive draft excluder on the back to stop any potential vibration/rattling of the tube cover against the airtube itself

This year we are hoping to head over towards the Black Forest and maybe take in the Nurburgring. We will however look at the weather and if the Forest looks like it might be wet, we'll follow the sun! None of us fancy 5 days on wet roads. If it's p*ssing with rain, I'd rather be in the bar!. The last 2 years we have covered around 1500 miles in 5 days

We head off Thursday to Dunkirk. From there we will head south. For the the last 2 years we have headed towards the French/Swiss borders taken in some mountain roads and headed back touching Germany Luxembourg and stopping off at the Bikerloft hotel in Belgium http://www.grd.be

The last night at the Bikerloft is becoming a bit of a tradition, it's a good laugh, bikers only, bit spit and sawdust but worth it

Frenchy

I know it was a while ago that you fitted the carbon covers, but did you have to take the fairing off to do the job?

From memory yes you do need to remove the side pannels.
