Ducati 999 Chain Adjustment?

Hello to All

The service manual suggests that a special wrench is required to undo the chain adjuster locknuts. However, the manual does not appear to list the tool ? I must be missing something here ?

What is the tool like - what is the cheapest source of supply ? Can I use something else ?

Thanks

Chris

Hi Chris,

If you have the early style rear swinging arm the adjusters can be adjusted by using two T bar style allen keys...4mm if I remember rightly.

The ends of the bars fit in adjuster holes perfectly and give you the leverage you need to slacken the adjusters off and re-tighten them after you have tightened the chain.

It's a 'quick fix' and will save your the cost of an original part....

I fitted my hugger today and thought I'd double check existing notches on the swinging arm for putting the wheel back. Bike's not been touched since I got it and the rear wheel adjustment varied by 1 notch. Are the notches accurate? was the wheel checked by other means at the factory and have I now got it wrong by setting the wheel straight by putting equal notches.

Hi redperil

You haven't got it wrong by matching the notches up buddy as they should mirror each other.
Just make sure you dont over tighten the chain when you adjust it all up..

Chain Adjusting

I think it is 30-35 mm on the flat part of the underside of the Swing Arm.
