does anyone know (for definite) if a clutch off of an early nineties 750ss will fit a 900bevel drive?

Hi,
I can't say for definate but I'm 99% sure it won't.
Are you in need of a clutch for a bevel motor? I have one or two spares...

thanks mr r.
i have not yet checked if ineed the clutch. she slips under (even moderate) acceleration.
i am told that the clutch is a weak point on these as it was the 750 clutch, but then i have been told different aswell.
i can get a new replacement kit. but it aint cheap.
i am going to check the adjustment etc tommorrow.
what have you got for bevels. i am also looking for a pair of wheels. fps or wire.
i have posted an ad' in the wanted section today.
cheers

Hi Chris,
The clutch was the same as the 750 roundcases but the primary gear ratios on the back of the clutch basket were different, so you can't swap them between the two unless you swap the crank primary pinion aswell.
Most if not all of the squarecase motors suffered clutch slip, an early mod was to fit clutch springs from a 450 single, but this made the clutch very heavy to use.
Surflex later made a modified/uprated clutch pack that worked pretty well.
I haven't got any wheels but the wire ones are still available at a price from Mdina Italia, Kamna Racing of Germany or Brancato's but I think that they all come from Germany now.

I would just buy yourself a new Surflex clutch, they come with a new set of springs, (different to the standard ones), they're pretty good, I get about 15-20k out of one.
Which is a damn site better than the one on my 900 Monster
