Hi,
I spent some time writing up the mods to the bottomend and lube system yesterday, only to hit the wrong button and delete the whole post, as if by magic.

So here it comes again, but it's a bit shorter this time...

At the moment I'm running a standard 900SS crank, modified to take 2mm thick HD thrust washers, the flywheels needed to be slimmed down on the inner faces to take these, Alpha pin, INS silver caged needle roller bigends, Ducati smallend bushes fitted to the rods, it's been dynamically balanced, has Carrilo rods and I've polished it.
I think that 10/40 is a bit on the thin side, I'm now using Rock Oil TRM 40/60, but in the past have used either SAE 40 or 50.
I've always changed the oil every 1000 miles or as near as I could if away on long trips.

I've got an external oil system, there's a V-Two sump strainer, Big German pump the oil goes up into the old oil filter housing that's been shortened and has a pressure relief valve that dumps excess oil/pressure onto the lower bevel gears, a braided hose then goes upto a remote spin-on filter under the fuel tank, (I use shallow Guzzi filters) then forward to an oil cooler in the fairing nose under the headlamp, then back to a splitter block which then directs oil via braided hoses to the ends of both cams and to the primary case for the crank feed, there's also a blanked feed waiting to lube the layshaft.(work in progress)
All the hoses have Blue/Red Earls fittings.
The drain for the front head returns direct to the sump from a hose connected to the exhaust rocker cover.
I made all of this kit up myself over the years this's about my Mk III version.
