Great read Rudolph.
I have promised myself to get my better half on the back for a short trip to Fremantle for coffee/breakfast one Sunday morning. Some how I don't think I did my cause any good by taking her in the car to a dirt bike meeting at Byford yesterday. She was really p***** off by me paying $50 for the entrance fee, (no appreciation for organized events).. At this stage I had nothing to lose when I asked her did she prefer this or Wanneroo, (road racing tack I dragged her to last year).
You did well my man!!
George

Sounds like Mrs H will need the Monster, and there's an upgrade in the future

Yes, several times. Most notably on the back of a Kawasaki 400 triple ridden by the late Steve Henshaw (anyone remember him?). Steve was an up & coming racer who dated a girl who lived around the corner from my then girlfriend (now the present Mrs H). Steve was either an illusionist or a magician, I had no idea where we were going as I seemed to be looking at the sky for most of the time. When I wasn't cloud-gazing I was busy wondering where the footrests were disappearing to and where all the sparks were coming from . I don't posess even a fraction of Steve's talent, but if I did ride like him I fear Mrs H would treat me to having my underpants washed in embrocation. Trust me, it smarts!

I'm not sure of the wisdom in allowing Mrs H loose on a powered two-wheeler.
Mrs H is a lady of, shall we say 'interesting' mechanical sympathy. She tends to regard the clutch in her car as something of an on/off switch, and the red line on the rev counter clearly means "Change gear here"
Even our dog insists on wearing a crash helmet when she takes him out in the back of her car. In fact I do the same, I find it slightly less scary to travel in the back with the dog. We pass the time quite happily licking the nice cold glass & leaving noseprints on the windows, anything to keep us from seeing what's really going on.
As an IAM observer I once gave her an advanced driving lesson. Once being the operative word.
Do you know how long it takes to walk home without any pocket money from Loughborough to Nottingham?
I do.....

Rudolph, whatever you do for a living, stop and become a writer. This is the best thread I have seen in a really long time. The visuals are classic.

Thanks for your kind words folks, glad you enjoy reading my ramblings.
Mark, some day I may just record a version of life with Mrs H, I'll probably call it 'The wrong way round'.
I recall a similar title worked quite well for Messrs McGregor & Boorman .
Mrs H has just bought me a T-Shirt on the front of which is the slogan 'In the doghouse since 1982'.
She said the shop didn't have one that dated back to 1977.

Cracking read RH. I have a partner who wants to go out on the bike. Indeed we went out last weekend and purchased a pair of lids and she picked up a leather jacket from her brother in law in readiness. She went out on the Monster last year and enjoyed the ride however her comment about how fast the road went underneath her made her scared (she has been looking down the whole time) didn't bode well.
The Hypermotard should give her a more comfortable ride than the monnie so hopefully she will enjoy it more.
Keep the reports coming it does make for great reading.

Yes, although I don't visit too often & spend more time on the Ducatisti site.

Thanks Squiffything. I'll be interested to hear how your partner finds the Hypermotard pillion seat compared to the Monster.
