749bp or 999s ? is it so obvious.
On my way home from work today, I could not help but do a 30 mile divert to Ducati Aylesbury. On the forecourt stood a lovely 999s. Now im not a total twit (though some(.) might disagree ) but this bike looks exactly the same as mine. Apart from stunning Ohlins and Termis you would never no the difference. I know that all these trick bits wont make me any faster,so why am i thinking of part ex ing my 749 (plus £4000)for this baby. PLEASE HELP

Don't do it, I could have had a T9R for what I've paid for mine and the subsequent goodies etc but I just love my 749 its plenty quick enough.

Because mankind always wants more...it is the nature of the beast!
BTW...Maddog dealer has or perhaps now had a brand new 999s iirc for sale which was an unwanted prize...give em a call!

I was in the same situation but mine was a 2005 749 BP and I'd always wanted a 999S (coincidently from Ducati Aylesbury). Thinking about it I just wanted the nicer mono seat and termis but in the end I could'nt part with £4k and px for something that looked fairly similar. In the end I did fork out nearly £5k and the 749 for something completely different in the Hypermotard.

You are all missing the point,.....the 999S motor is fantastic,.....add in the Ohlins,..... and you have an awesome machine.

to be honest the 999s motor is a world apart from the 749bp motor not just in terms of quality but punch too.
rode a 749bp with a spun crank which was interesting, bike started and ran, but bounced like a buell on its stand. twisted cranks are not uncommon.
the 999s motor is a gem.
