Forum newbie looking for project...

Hello all

I'm new to the forum and a Ducati wannabe at the moment. My missus rides a 695 which I use quite often (love it, was very suprised at performance having had a M600 on loan years ago which I found underpowered), but main bke at the moment is a CB1300.

I have just built a big shed in my back garden specifically to put a project bike in! So if anyone knows of a 900 two-valver with straight engine and frame but scruffy cosmetics going cheap (up to maximum of 1k) please let me know. Would consider 750 if right bike.... Thanks for reading!

Just been to road test an old 750 Monster that a local dealer uses as their shop sign! Apart from an oil leak it looked sound enough - took it for a ride, put a bit of fuel in. Rode nicely but when I tried to open her up got very spluttery and then conked out. Had to bump it and then nurse it home. Tank looked rusty inside so maybe crap in carbs, or maybe electrics. Shame as I was enjoying myself and about to find out if a 750 would be nippy enough.... They are going to have a look and ring me so I will keep it on possible list. As it is my first project I woulf prefer to start with a runner....
