*** Please Introduce Yourself ***

I've noticed that we are up to 15 members as of a few minutes ago and that we currently have about 40 visitors a day that never post a thing and just look at the photos and leave...

So how about introducing yourselves and maybe letting us know what you would like to gain from this site.

I would suggest the following information:

1. Name (optional)
2. Type of Ducati owned or interested in.
3. Where you live
4. What you hope to gain from reading this board
5. Anything else you have to say

Okay, me first:
If you haven't guessed, I'm the site creator and have adored the Ducati marque since 1993 with the creation of the 916. I managed to buy my very own 748 two years ago and spend as much time riding as possible. I live in Devon and created this site over the winter when the weather was too bad to get out on the bike and now I'm just keeping the site going for fun.

916 - anygood?

Hello

I am contemplating buying a 916 and would like a bit of feedback from anyone who has one.

I currently ride an Aprilia RS250 Harada GP replica, which is awesome, but have also owned Laverda's, ZX6, R1, etc.

I love my 2 stroke to bits as it handles and brakes better than any bike I've ridden before and will touch 130mph which is fast enough for me (I get more enjoyment from cornering really quick) but after a couple of long rides have been desperate to get off the Aprilia by lunch time as everything is hurting by then.

It's a really demanding bike to ride and if your only out for a couple of hours it's ok, any longer and it just becomes a pain in the ar$e.

As most of my riding is going to be days out now, I am thinking about the 916, as I've always wanted one and I can afford to buy one.

Appreciate your comments, thanks in advance.

Hi Webbo, If comfort's what you're after then the 916 definately isn't the tool.... however if you'd like a bike for blasts on sunny days and good roads, then the 916 is a machine and a half. Read any review since '93 (there's a Performance Bikes review in the '916 Forum'), it's the bike that made Ducati great.

It goes without saying that the ride is going to be very different from any of your past bikes because of the v-twin power delivery. Go try and find one at a dealers, pay loads of attention to it and ask for a test ride. They always say 'Yes' as long as you ride a decent bike into the car park.

Thanks for joining the site. Dan

Hello my name is Brian

I do not have a Ducati as yet but am looking at the moment untill i find one that i like dont know what to go for but it will most probabley be a 999s mono. At the moment i ride around on my GSXR 750 but have decided that if i am going to buy another bike its got to be something a bit more timeless and does not go out of date the next year like the Jap bikes.

Anyway thanks for all your time and if you have any advise on what to look for on a second hand 999 please let me know

Hey Brian, Thanks for the post. Good to hear about you interest in the 'timeless' style of Ducati and specifically the 999. There are a few reviews in the '999' forum that I've found which you may find of interest and also a couple of pics in the gallery.

The following link has plenty of cool info if you're thinking of buying a secondhand Ducati so I'd start reading there and then go and test ride one from a dealer.... http://www.ducatitech.com/info/buyers_faq.html

If you have any more questions on the 999 can you please place them in the 'Ducati 999' forum. Cheers Dan

I will let you all know when i get the Duke

I am just waiting for some money to mature and then i will start looking rather than just dribbleing on the showroom floor

I did take the Gixer up there the other day for a trade in price only to find that ive had the wrong reg plate on the bike for years and no one had even noticed and the salesman whent a bit offy with me like i was trying to flog him a dodgey bike

Now all i need to do is get a test ride

Brian... Sorry to hear about the plate, but from my experience, make sure the dealer doesn't 'flog you a dodgey bike'. I bought my 748 from a very reputable dealer on the A2 in Kent only to discover 3 weeks later my log book frame number and bike frame number didn't match...

It worked out okay in the end but I felt an idiot for not checking beforehand.

luckaly the bike is ok it was just the plate thats not been made up correctly

Luckaly there is a couple of Ducati dealer's in my area there is one in Aylesbury http://www.onyerbike.net/ducati.htm and they have loads to chose from even a lovely 998 at £10998 this is very tempting but i cant realy spend that much on a bike can i.
Also there is Daytona motorcycles in Ryslip http://www.daytonamc.co.uk/

I am a member of the suzuki owners club at the moment and travel down your way every so often to a pub called the travelers rest dont ask me exacley where it is as i just follow the bloke with the sat nav but next time we have a meet down that way i will let you know and maybe you could pop up for a ride.

Any bike meet sounds good to me! There's a few 'Travelers Rest' pubs so you'll have to place a post when you're next down my way with directions. Any Wednesday in the summer is good as there's a bike meet on Paignton seafront that attracts thousands of bike's with no hastle from the plod.

I like the 'onyerbike' site, loads of cool stuff!

Hey Frenchy, Thanks for joining us!!! It's all a bit quite on here because not many people have found there way here, and those that have, are quite rightly out on their bikes and not chattin'.

Pleased to here about your purchase of the 999, we need somebody to lead the 999 forum and scan the web for info, fancy helping out???

I look for to seeing some pics of your bike. Should get a few of my own on the site soon from a trip to Cornwall I have planned in a couple of weeks.

Dan

P.S: Hi Lucy, I'll send you a private message to say Hello, long time no here!

I will get round to taking one out for a test ride when i can find one but there isnt many 999s models around as a demo the only one they can give me to test is a 749 and looks a bit taty round the edges.

999s

Hey Brian

Looks as though you are only up the road from me as well, I'm in St. Albans!
Had the 999s for a couple of months, just been on a 5 day trip to Switzerland and back...awsome, bike was fantastic never missed a beat and bearing in mind I had only just got it, I have never ridden a bike that I felt so in tune with so quickly!

Awsome...Awsome....Awsome

Highly recommended!!! I haven't ridden a standard 999 so it would be interesting to ride both and compare as the 's' has more goodies as standard
