Arrow Question about brake pads!!

How do I replace the rear brake pads on my GT1000?

It looks like I've just got to pull a cotter-pin, slide a retaining pin out of the way, and the pads just sort of hinge out of the caliper.

The problem is the retaining pin won't slide out of the way. The pin rotates easily. It even slides back and forth 1 mm at most. It just won't slide out of the way. Is there something I'm missing?

The same pin on my husband's Harley's caliper is actually a screw. The same pin on the DRZ400SM we used to own slid out with minimal effort. The GT1000's pin just won't slide out.

I mean WTF??

Have a look on the inside side of the caliper at the other end of the pin, you should find an R clip that stops the pin pulling out. Remove it and Hey Presto, out will come the pin.......
