IMO, it can but it is not ideal; depends on if it is going to be left outside and commuted on everyday?

Well, I have used mine throughout winter, and the bike was left outside more often than not. Also, my journey to work takes me through a building site, and the bike was covered in mud every day, pretty much. It was covered in ACF50 at the start of the winter, and hosed down to a clean state most weekends, and then sprayed with WD40 or some protective spray.

I've just given it a thorough clean for the summer (heh) and there's no real damage done. Perhaps the odd bit of corrosion here and there, but nothing obvious, or that I'm worrying about. It's holding up better than most. I've seen a lot worse on my last Suzuki, even garaged.

The genuine accessory rack is a different matter - rust at every joint. Horrible.

Done over 8000 miles on mine in all weathers, some in winter, still looks good. Standard ducati hard luggage has been totally waterproof too.
