GT1000 footpegs

Hi guys. I'm planning to buy a GT1000. I'm putting higher handlebars on and wonder if you can lower the foot pegs a touch to accommodate long legs. Anyone?

I have some lowering brackets that came with my Paul Smart. You can have them for the postage if you like, just PM me your address.

Amazing

Kes You are great. I am finalizing the purchase on Wednesday. I live in Canada and I'll get the info to you as necessary. I assume the Paul Smarts pegs fit a 2007 GT 1000. Hate to waste your time. By the way, I'm just learning my way around this website so is this the way I contact you?

Also, the bike I'm getting is a 2007 whereas I thought it was 2008. Are they identical? Is there anything in the 2007 line I need to worry about?

Mke

Shivertown thanks too

Thanks for the info on the pegs.

Since I've got you on the line, is there a different between the 2007 and 2008 GT1000? Is the 2009 expected to be any different? I'm talking functional improvements, reliability, recalls etc.

Mike, as far as I'm aware there were no differences between the '07 - 08 GT1000's (and no recalls) the peg height adjusters will fit fine. As for reliability, one of the best things about this bike is that the engine has been developed and fine tuned from as far back as 1980! and being an air cooled and a fairly unstressed engine anyway, they're about as reliable as you can get, although regular servicing (especially belts) is obviously important. To PM me your address, click on my user name, then click "send private message to Kes" and leave a message on my profile page. One more thing. On the Paul smart, you can take out two spacers and raise the handlebars (clip-ons) by an inch or so - this may be only an option with the ohlins forks, but it certainly helps the wrists on long rides.

Hi Mike, did you pick the bike up? How do you like it?
I have had mine since 2006. There have been no changes to the GT1000 other than colour schemes since then.
I have now done just over 9000 miles with no trouble. Two oil changes and one replacement rear tyre.
Adam.

Holy Cripes

I bought it! Sex on wheels. No need to lower pegs. I like the riding position and canceled my order for higher bars and windshield. Definitely going for the 14T countershaft sprocket.
