Is the HM 1100 S worth the money?

I am considering buying a HM 1100 or S version, but looked at the price difference between a 1100 and a 1100S. In The Netherlands the 1100 will cost €13.000,- the 1100s will cost €15.300,-. Will the 2.3K extra invested will give me a good bang for my buck?

Pro's:
Lighter rims, only 2kg in total bike weight including carbon bits
Datalogging unit
Pirelli tyres
Carbon bits (not my style though)
Front Kayaba fork
Rear Ohlins shock

Cons:
Price...

I would go for the S if the rear shock and forks will improve the bike its handing significantly. But will it, I am not a racer buit a fun rider.

Alternatives?

Thanks in advance
Floris

Hi, never ridden either myself but i reckon the standard HM will be seriously fun, fast and furious. As you say the S model is for racers or those who just have to have the top of the range. I ride the humble monster 695 and it frightens the life out of me, in a good way.

Bon Route

yes, and no, is a bike worth more than say an Aygo at 8k, in the real world no, cause it not, but in hyper world every pound or euro, get the S, if you get the standard you will always have the S in your mind, went out on mine to day, it's true you do don't stop grinning, I do think the S rides better with the Rear Ohlins and lighter wheels, I came from having a standard before, for street riding dump the tyres in favour of Conti Road attacks or Pirelli Scorpion Sync's, data logging, nice toy, used mine once

Thanks for your reply, forgot to mention the brake upgrade...

But what exactly is different on the brakes, the specs in the brochure seem to be the same...

The S has Brembo Monobloc calipers similar to the 1198 while the base model has non-Monobloc similar to the 848. There is a considerable performance difference.

+1 on getting a second hander. You will pay less for an S than a standard and if you look hard and get lucky it will have had the usual upgrades to the pipes etc which will cost you in excess of a grand when you do it yourself.

just got mine from Monday. paid 9.000 € for a 2007 HM S with:

10,000km (service done)
full service history
2-1-2 Termi
Rizoma hand grips
carbon tank cover
carbon rear mud gard

done almost 1,000 km with it, and every km has been a real pleasure! :-))

it's really worth watching around!
