going that way sort of, I currently run a DP slipper clutch (love it), I picked up a standard Hypermotard flywheel that I have had lightened, I looked at the nichols but went for retaining a steel flywheel at about double the weight of the nichols, the steel one comes in around 2 kilo's I think, about the same as a 1098s, due to be fitted in the next few weeks, so will update then

great

let me know how you get on

I have a nichols flywheel bought off this site but not fitted yet...just concerned I will need a slipper clutch to counter extra engine braking..but I guess I just better not be lazy..

Dont need a slipper clutch with a light flywheel mate & you dont get more engine breaking!

Just fit the flywheel & see what you think the bigest diff is the weight off the bike in the corners the diff to the engine isnt night & day to be honest

based on what cpt.crashtastic wrote, below, Jeff at G-tec is fitting my flywheel soon, hope this helps,

1 Kilo lighter.

Whats the difference

If you are expecting something dramatic, think again. Yes it spins up faster but not that much. I was expecting some dramatics going from WOT to closed with maybe the odd wheel lock. Not the case. Yeh Yeh it will if you provoke it. Knock it down a few and dump the clutch and you too will look like Reuban Xaus but you'll problably end up watching your bike dissapearing in the distance.

So the reality is it's not going to blow you away but there are other benefits. My flywheel was machined and balanced. This has produced a smoother engine. What is very noticeable is the perception of bike weight. The bike feels lighter in corners. Removing flywheel weight has reduced the 4 Stroke effect. If you have ridden 2 Smokes you will know what I'm talking about. Wheelies come a little easier. Finally it IS more fun and for roughly £130 it was worth it. I can't give you an exact figure as I had a few other bits done at the same time.

And a heads up for G Tec Performance. Most excellent Service and my bikes cleaner than when it went in and nothings fell off yet
