to buy or not to buy? (HP1100)

Hi, I am new here in all aspects, I need a bit of help.
My heart is screaming BUY BUY BUY!!!
I test drove the 1100s cause this is what they had for testing.
I was wondering if the 1100 is a bit more soft to ride and if the optional low seat would make a noticible difference in comfort.

Thanks

I have had both the standard, latterly the S, the front forks are the same on both, just the S has nitride coating and anodised gold covering, the rear is an oem Ohlins shock, so its not as good as direct Ohlins in theory, but I would say it makes a difference, there are other differences worth considering, the monobloc brakes are far better, lighter wheels make a big difference and carbon is nice,

hi mate .
ive ridden both and have a standard h.m.
the standards does feel slightly softer , great for trashing around b roads , kind of plush accelerating over bumpy roads .

whatever you get youl love

The S is the better bike but its questionable if you would notice the improvements on the road. As Thefuse said buy a second hand S with all the extra goodies added for the price of a new standard.

As for the seat, what you will pay for a DP seat, you can have the standard seat resculptured to what you want with a bit of gel padding put in and recovered in the style you want giving you a perfect comfort seat totally unique to you.

This is what I need to know, cause I haven't riden a bike for more than 5 years and the last bike I had was a cruiser, so when I tested the HM I found it is a bit uncomfortable for my linking, so I thought maybe the dp low seat would make a difference for my bum, and my arms by riding a bit lower so taking some weight off the hands.
I know if I am thinking this way probably the HM is not the bike for me I'd better go for my second more logical option that is the BMW F650GS, the new one with the 800cc engine but I can't keep my mind of the HM.
Oh and yeah we don't have the Multistrada here....

JFB, for my sins I own both a Hypermotard 1100S and a BMW 650GS (twin).
It might seem like a silly statement but if you are riding at steady speeds there is not much difference in handling or comfort in these bike. They will both be good about town, or pootling around.
Once you turn up the speed the Hyper S is much much better at holding the road and delivering power.
Which is more comfortable? that's difficult to say, the BMW has a VERY uncomfortable seat and I struggle to do more than 100 miles on it without getting a numb bum. I must get a gel seat for it.
My Hyper has a lowered gel seat ( custom made) and I can travel all day on it without discomfort. I am quite small but I don't find there is any weight on my arms - perhaps you were a little tense during the test ride?

If I could only have one of these bikes it would be the Hypermotard because I love the look and sound and handling of it.
Get the bike that does everything you want, that is comfortable for you and you can live with - Are you going to regret getting a BMW every time you see a Ducati?

Northumbrian, I live in Beirut, Lebanon...

singletrack, Thank you for the great advice, but you didn't have to bother if you knew you are gonna finish with this last question!!!! I think I will regret getting a BMW everytime I am gonna see the HM!! Who wouldn't?
Thanks again, your opinion is spot on cause you have both bikes, very helpfull.
I will try to go today to the Ducati dealer and negoiate the final price, if I get what I am asking for so be it! wish me luck.
Oh yeah I was a "little" tense test riding the bike....
