Yes Bud I did look at my VERY EXPENSIVE MANUAL   I posted it for all of us good people that have VERY COMPLICATED ENGINES
I am afraid that you may be out a little bit there Bud, it is only 68c and different opening temperatures for the two fans aswell.

Hey Spike! Did you find that in the Specifications Manual?

More complicated than I thought then Jim - two different temps for the fans! It looks like your operating temp of 70°C was ok after all then but that thermostat opening has surprised me? Does that agree with the Hayne's manual 'cos it's very low?
By the way Jim, my EXPENSIVE workshop manual cost me £79 but the one on ebay for my bike sold for £12.56. I did feel a bit ****ed off, so we both missed a bargain then
.....like you said Jim - It's only money!

V90 Just posting this for all the other Lads. ( I know I PM'ed you but I want to tell them their might be a difference in the figures for my 999 or the 999S for 2006.

The last post for the Thermostat openings is of the Manual for the 2006 999/999S model. I have a 999 2003. I do not know if there is any difference.

Jim

In summer once, going over a mountain range in heavy traffic, crawling along in first or second gear, my M1000 got to 117 degrees. That’s the hottest either it or my M800 have got.

In summer another time, it was freezing cold and raining, and the temperature dropped to below 50 degrees, as “LO” flashed on and off for a while. I didn’t expect it to get that cold even given the low ambient temperatures.

My 800 runs a bit cooler than the 1000.

Hmm interesting post.
Went out for a couple of rides recently on my Multistrada and just noticed the milky residue on the oil level window.
