Removing my Exhausts?! (Monster 600)

Hi all, advice needed from you pro's!

I have seen custom bikes with very short, sometimes non existant cans. Basically just the pipe sticking out from the engine!

My question, would this work with my ducati monster? Could I remove the slip on cans and just have the pipes exposed from the engine? I love the way this looks on custom built bikes but not sure what the implications would be on a standard bike....

Am I mental?

Dunno about mental, but open pipes on a duke.....nooooooo! Termi's etc are the only choice!
I think the usual candidates for open pipes are Harleys etc, they tend to run a pretty soft state of tune so the exhaust impulses are fairly gentle, and they rev very low down, so not excessively loud. A duc on the other hand has more dramatic valve timing and is in a much higher state of tune, so the exhaust will have much more of a "bark"....open pipes would get you into deep trouble pronto. Not recommended IMHO

Ducati Manchester had a Monster running a really stubby carbon Termi, it was literaly no more that a foot long, sort of MotoGP stylee, coming out just behind the RHS footpeg, looked & sounded awesome. Give em a ring.

I remember seeing a Monster in Durban with extremely short silencers exiting just in front of the rear wheel. Looked awesome and had some silencing capabilities, the sound was not to harsh, but far from standard. Ithought it looked and sounded awesome. I'm trying to find a pic for you
