Arrow Monster 620 Seat Catch Won't Engage

Hi all

I had to take the seat off of Mrs H's Monster today to remove the cowl for a bit of pillion work. Now I can't get the set back on properly - the catch at the back won't engage .

Anyone had this problem before and able to advise me on the right technique?

Firstly, my lock does not spring back easily when I push the seat down. I have to turn the key to lock it then take the key out.
Second, make sure the lugs are under the frame at the front.
Third, mine became such a tight fit to shut that I put a couple of washers between the catch/lock and the frame of the bike to raise it a little. It's been much better since.

Lock does spring back easily - check!

Lugs are under the frame at the front - double check!

I reckon some washers may be in order here too.

Thanks

My wife's Monster has similar issues, let me know how you get along with the washers.

I always have to give my seat a really hard push down at the back to get it to catch. However I think this is mainly because I have a tail chop and the new rear light position pushes slightly on the underside of the seat. Also you need to keep the lock and catch mechanism well oiled up, it tends to get a bit dry and sticks.

Lock and catch mechanism is well oiled - it springs back quite nicely. Should I be able to put the seat back on without using the key? That would make it easier to use both hands to give the seat a hefty push back down.

You should be able to but mine needs a good push. I actually whack it with heel of my hand.

Thanks for that. I'll give it another go and get all tough this time

I put a couple of washers under the catch on our lasses 695, worked a treat.

I had the same problem on my Monster when I changed to a Ducati Performance gel seat.
A couple of washers under the catch solved the problem.
