Cool I Miss My Monster

I haven't ridden my Monster since the beginning of May as I couldn't afford to insure the 2 bikes at the same time, but I have run it up regularly to keep it sweet.

On Saturday I couldn't help myself and took it for a run down round the bottom of my street, it fitted like an old glove, just like I have never been off it.

The 998 will be getting SORNed at the end of the month and I am so tempted put he Monster back on the road rather then wait until insurance renew time in May and to heck with the expense. I have owned it for over 6 years now a for a long time I said it would be the last bike that I ever own but in May, I brought the last bike I will ever buy.

But the Monster will still be the last bike I own - I could never sell it.

Can't you add an extra bike onto your insurance scheme? When i got a quote from Devitts...who the RAC do their quotes through...they said that it was just an extra £10 each iirc for up to 2 or 3 extra bikes!

I am with Carol Nash...and i can add an extra bike or two for an extra £65 each iirc?

I read an article recently which said that thousands of motorcyclists in the UK don't realise that they can actually add extra bikes to their policies...and hence millions too much extra money is being spent every year because of lack of information on the subject.

Yeah thats right. I added a 748S onto a policy for a 748 R and it only put the premium up by £20 with Ducati insurance. Then I added a Monster and it made no difference to the premium at all! I was well chuffed, still am!

Lightbulb

My Monster is back on the road.

£46 to add it to my existing policy.

Thanks for the tip, I didn't realise it was possible to have more than one bike insured on the same policy - I thought that disappeared with the old 'rider' policies.

Extra bikes at zero cost

Just to illustrate that in England we always get stuffed here's a bit about bike ownership and insurance in Austria.

Realising that if you are the sole registered owner / rider of a machine the Austrian government says that as you can only ride one bike at a time then the following is what they do: -
1. a single transferable number plate is used for all bikes.
2. a single insurance, base on the most powerful bike is bought.
3. each bike must have a TUV (MOT) sticker
4. only one bike is allowed to be driven / covered by the insurance at any one time

This seems soo logical and easy why don't we do it!
