Wait till you hear the Termis as you gear down or back off of the throttle... music to the ears...

Snap, Crackle and Pop.... I know... I already rode the dealer's Termi test ride.

And all the while my wallet was calling out to me in a calm but authoritative voice "I can't let you do this Desmond" but the Termi's cacophony of aural pleasure drowned out it's protestations .

I know y'all prefer CF but I'm thinkin' Stainless Steel, and not just to placate my wallet either. See? It's no longer "if" but "which".... lol.

Is there a weight difference between CF & SS?

From a practical point of view I have been able to compare the SS Scorpions on my GSX1400 with the CF Termis on my 695. The CF Termis are certainly cooler to the touch when cleaning the bike after riding & I suspect a pillion passenger would detect less heat from high rise CF cans(as on the 696) compared to Al, Ti or SS.

Tempted?

Desmond,

Rudolph,
I cant believe there is much difference in the weight of the SS v CF.. but you are correct the CF stay very cool compared to the SS ones...

I imagine that CF does weigh a little less than SS, but then again I could have not fitted 2kg of airhorn if I was concerned about miniscule weight saving. And.... true CF will be cooler to the touch, but I never carry a pillion and I won't touch the SS more than once anyway .... sooooo - shallow as I am - it's all about appearance. Bright 'n' shiny or dark, cool 'n' contemporary? .

The nice thing about the CF Termis is that you can get CF shields that match. Can you get SS ones for the 696? or do you just keep the 'grey' ones?
I know you are not a fan of CF, but the 'grey' ones look crap.

Agreed. They grey ones do look like crap. But then again I'd argue that the CF Termis and the CF shields dont exactly match anyway..... they're a different weave. Did I hear somebody say "pedant"?!?

There are no stainless heat sheilds as far as I know. I been thinkin' about powder-coating the heat shields (and exhaust mount brackets) satin black, M1100 style.

That's a good idea. I saw the 1100 non s for the first time y'day and they look good. The other prob with the CF ones is the price!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Either way I'll be paying thru the nose for my aural pleasure..... um........

Even if SS and CF were the same price I'd still be having this debate with myself.... lol

Can't wait to get there now

I'm moving to Melbourne from London in a few months, your photo's are really helping me cope with the inevitable seperation of my beloved S2R 800. I'm gonna have to sell it before I leave but I have my eyes on a pearl 848 when I get there. Any suggestions for a good dealer in Victoria?

Boy oh boy are you in for a culture shock. In the entire State of Victoria you have a number of Ducati dealers to choose from. I'm sure either of them will look after you...
