Mark,
I bet you wish you hadn't wrote that.
Yamaha TZ 700/750's had a viscious power delivery and over 100rwbhp, they came with spoked wheels.
My old bevel puts out similar power to the modern belt 900's and a lot more grunt, it hasn't broken a spoke in over 100,000 miles.
Manufacturers only really changed to cast alloy wheels because they were cheaper to make and had become fashionable, after racers started fitting Magnesium wheels.
Later tubeless tyres came along and the old type spoked wheels needed innertubes.
I don't know what they do about this on the modern classic range, can anybody out there enlighten me?????
I know that BMW fix the spokes to the outer flange on their wire wheel models.

Steve

I've just had a closer look at the monster pic' it looks like it's got a central flange on
the rims but my old eyes aren't that good these days, is this what they do with the modern classic's?

The sport classic series use tubeless tyres mr R. dont know how exactly but could be somthing to do with the spokes being wrong way round. (Nipple in the hub.) sealant tape over the spokeheads?

Hi Legs,
Thanks for that, I'm not sure I'd want to risk my neck/life on a bit of sealent tape though!
I use racing innertubes on my old bevels, they're made of natural rubber and don't burst like normal tubesl

Steve

Here's a better pic of the wheels - turns out they're C/F Dymags and yes the screws are in the hub !!

Looks like the spokes are conneted to the rim using a flange, so no need for protection within the tyre
