Launch Revs ?

Although my bike is due for it's big service - booked in, 2nd September - , I have been out on it today for a small play. I have a question for you to help out the Ducati Rookie that I am:

Until it has been warmed up to around the 70 degree mark, it seems almost impossible to move from a standstill from anything less than 3k revs - it will stall everytime. The bike has the Termi full system, is de-catted, race chip(I think) and a bigger airbox. Seems better when warmed but still won't move off unless revs are 2-3k. Does all this sound normal ?

Should say that it's terrific when moving, engine is something else, midrange to die for, much fitter than KTM in the middle, have not been over 7.5k revs so far.

It sounds like the fuelling needs setting up, get the dealer to set the base fuel map when they service it, simply needs a gas analyser on the sample ports to measure what the tick over CO level is set to, it can be adjusted with the Ducati diagnostics tool.

When the bike is in Warm up mode (normally under 65 degrees) it over fuels, bit like a choke on carbs, the colder the motor and the lower the air pressure and colder the air temp the richer it makes the fuel/air ratio, as the motor warms it adjusts back.

If the base map is set too high then when it adds a percentage of extra fuel in warm up, it really over fuels, and chokes up.

shoud be a simple fix, good luck.
