Unhappy Cracked lens on clocks.

I rode my bike to work this morning in fog & a bit chilly,Parked bike by building out of sun. Came back an hour later bike now in full sun. noticed on moving bike two cracks in each lens of the speedo & tacho each about 1 cm long. The cracks are on inside of lens so it has not been knocked. Has anyone else had this problem ?
Cheers
Krauty.

I don't know about the sun (doubt that'd cause it), but the glass on the clocks on my 748 cracked, and now my 749 has a inch long crack on the clock too.

Cracked lens on clocks.

This is a very common problem with Ducati's, my 998 had this problem just after changing the clock faces, see picture attached, that said the fractures still remain even after a few years and are not getting any worse.

When the faces were changed the expansion and contraction "rate" of the clock bezel and the cases changed because of the glue used.

One answer is to change to anodised instrument rims with glass lenses these expand and contract without damage. Obviously not cheap, another alternative is to get hold of a old instrument and change the bezel and lens over. I did this once but the cracks came back.

Apparently US Ducati's particularly from the hotter states suffer from this very regularly.
