Chain adjustment??

My chain seems to be OK as per the instructions on checking tension, and it has been for several hundred miles. If it doesn't need adj, I suppose you leave it alone? It just seems strange that it hasn't moved at all? I lubricate the chain every time(or every other time) I ride.

chain adjustment

the chain will only need adjusting if it stretches, and will only stretch if you ride the bike hard! it does take alot to stretch a duke chain because of the way the bike produces its power. certainly nothing to worry about. get out there and give it some!

Sounds like he's talking out of his ar5e, unless he lubes it with grinding paste!

I thought it was odd that he adjusted it so often, perhaps he meant he checked it that often! I couldn't understand why a chain would need tending to so much!!

I check mine every 500 miles and lubricate when it is dry or every 3rd ride. Never had to adjust it yet.

Ouch, that must smart. Must take a brave man to lube that particular orifice with grinding paste. Chicken tikka phaal can have the same effect....

I once bought a cheap chain (only once!) and it needed adjusting every 100 miles, but only for about 2000, then it was knackered.

I have found thet twins and singles generally give their chains a harder life than fours, alway thought it was caused by the same effect that gives a twin more grip out of corners- the less frequent power pulses.

And just to be pedantic chains don't stretch, its the pins and bushes that wear.
