Insurance for Ducati 1100S?

Hi guys, am picking up my new 1100S at the end of the month and am having a few problems with insurance - most of the insurers only seem to have the 1000S on their system, listed as a 2007 bike - no 1100S (they don't seem to have the 1098 either)? Has anyone else had this problem or found an insurer who does have the 1100 and 1100S on their systems?

I know Duacti insurance have the latest bikes on their system, but they are 150 quid more in my case so I would rather get something cheaper if poss.

How do you know if you're having difficulty getting a quote elsewhere? The one good this about Ducati Insurance is their stance on modifications; in my experience most insurers are rather averse to them.

Bennett's very very competitive for my wife's Monster, but that doesn't really answer the question I'm afraid.

Good luck!

I'm comparing the Ducati Insurance 1100S quote with a '2007' 1000S quote elsewhere. From what I can see on the 1098 board, it looks like I will just have to bend over and smile while handing out twice as much for insurance on a bike that is almost exactly the same. I would probably have gone for a 2nd hand 1000S if I had known the insurers were so far behind! My biggest problem is the lack of NCB - I had 10 years and then didn't insure a bike for 3 years - now my NCB is worthless. I have always suspected that insurance is a racket, and my almost random quotes from various companies are making me surer than ever!

Bike: 1098S Tricolore

Try eBike eBike Insurance - Bike and Classic Bike Insurance from eBike Insurance they have it and are normally quite competitive.

Thanks for the tip RodH, have checked eBike and they are very slightly (i.e. £10) more than Ducati insurance. They have the 1100 but no 1100S - close enough for government work!

At this stage I am thinking I will go with Ducati Insurance for the first year as at least I will have less hassle claiming for theft or damage if need be. Perhaps in future years when the repair/replacement value of the bike falls (in the eyes of the insurer) I'll stick it down as an 1000S for the sake of cheapness. TBH in the past I have only ever gone for TPFT on a bike, but I know I am tempting fate buying such a nice spanking new bike and would be gutted it I damaged it in a crash (try not to make a habit of it, but...)
