1st Paso Ride of 2008 - 06 Jan 08

Well, i managed to get a few hours in the saddle yesterday morning, Sunday, 6th January. A bit cold and frosty first thing but a lovely clear day. Rode from Bridlington across the Wolds to Fridaythorpe and a brew at the cafe then over to the Humber Bridge then back through Hull and home to Brid. See the attached photos.

Looks like a cracking day for January, Yorkie, with the added bonus that at that sort of temp the bug count is almost zero!

Superb to see a local 'point of interest' on the front page too!

The Humber Bridge is only 10 minutes down the road from me. And do I ever think of taking my bike down there to take superb photos like you have? Do I heck...

Glad you hear you had such a good ride out on Sunday Yorky. You're right, the weather started a bit frosty, but it freshened up superbly.

I took advantage of the mild weather to wheel my daily commuter bike out of the garage and give her a bit of TLC; new plugs, oil, filters and a good scrub to get rid of the wintergrime.

Wish I'd had a bit of time to get out for a bit of a ride ... bloomin' sunset at bloomin' 4pm... grr.. roll on summer.

Is that the veiwing area on the Barton side? I've parked up there a few times myself to watch the boats doing their stuff. Another point of interest for fat blokes like me is Spelmans butchers in Brigg, the finest sausage and black pudding sarnies in the land, i'm usually digesting one when watching boats.

Yes, it is the Barton side. John's sandwich shop near Hull King George docks do a blinding Sausage and Egg butty.

Nice Pic

Nice picture mate, I was walking that area on Sunday, do you ever get to Sherburn? Have to agree with Spelmans quote, the Real Sandwich Company in Hessle Square and Brian Fields in Anlaby are also worth a try.

Yes, i occasionally have a blast across to Sherburn but it sometimes gets overwhelming Plod presence on the surrounding roads. I try to ride on the quieter "B" roads around East Yorks and call in at Fimber Woods cafe, Bracey Bridge cafe and Seaways at Fridaythorpe. You can't beat a good butty to lift the spirits so i always try to include a good nosh stop in my ride out !
