Ducati 750 Paso - Advice Please?

Hi i have a 1990 750 Paso, not had it all that long as i bought it off flea bay as a non runner. i soon got it running the next day all it needed was the carb cleaning and battery charging and it fired up no prob's i have changed the belts and now need new clutch friction plates and clutch springs, are these dealer only or can you get them from other places. need some advice on what tyres to fit as the tyres on it are old and need replacing so wondering what sizes to go for seeing as the original sizes are not avaiable any more i know i can go with a front 130/70/16 but what about the rear tyre? any advice welcome...

Dave

Hi mate well done on your paso purchase Its probably a good idea to get yourself over to ducatipaso.org where you will find lots of answers to your questions . As to tyres they are a problem, you can get away with the front by using the fireblade 16inch fitment i have a Metzler it works well as to the rear Yeller duc on the paso site may be able to help you i had a couple from him about a month back he is in the usa BUT they are very reasonably priced iT IS POSSIBLE TO FIT 17 INCH WHEELS BUT IT REALLY SPOILS THE LOOK OF THE BIKE. THERE ARE ALSO SOME PEOPLE WHO FIT HIGHER PROFILE REARS BUT THAT AGAIN MAKES FOR A VERY ODD LOOKING PASO ALONG WITH SOME SAY SUSPECT HANDLING.

Opps hit the caps lock there . Forgot to say you have to raise front guard about half an inch if you use a fireblade tyre

Thanks for the advice much appreciated. i have seen photo's of Paso's with what looks like higher profile rear tyres i think 150/80/16 but they certainly spoil the lines of the paso but if thats all i can get to fit the rear thats what i will do rather than alter the rear wheel size with a 17 inch wheel, but thinking about it being able to use better tyres seems a good idea maybe during the winter i will change to a 17" rear but will i have to use a 907 swing arm to take the bigger wheel& wider tyre ?? or is the 750 arm ok for this mod.

cheers
Dave.

The 17 inch wheel doesnt fit the 750 swingarm due to the brace on that arm .907 arms do turn up on ebay now and again .Lots of advice on the paso site about wheels and tyres look what i found

Ducati Paso 907 iE REAR FORK new - eBay Motorcycle Parts, Motorcycle Parts Accessories, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 27-Sep-07 17:49:51 BST)

However i think you may need other bits from a 907 to fit it

The other alternative is to get the 750 arm altered spondon do drag style extensions which a couple of paso guys have used .Not sure however what the situation is with spondon now as Bob sold the buisness i think.

Have a look at this
DOCGB - new

Oh and just thought you have to alter the proptand with 17 inchers even with the higher profile front they lean over at a bit of an alarming angle

I finally got round to installing new clutch plates and springs to my 750 Paso ( monster 600 clutch kit) fitted them and went for test ride and there was a loud squeal when i operated the clutch lever but the clutch worked without any sign of slip, so when i got home i decided to investigate the squeal and i had a look at the slave cylinder piston, i removed it from the cover and pulled it apart by gently prising the oil seal out from round the button followed by removal of wire circlip which enabled the button to be removed there were 12 small ball bearings in the lower part of the bearing ( inside of the piston) these looked dry so i cleaned them and regreased them and assembled the bearing back in the piston, fitted the circlip and seal and reinstalled it back into the clutch cover , had to bleed the clutch which seemed to take an age but got there in the end and had an operative clutch again so off for test ride 2 and it all goes as it should with no problems so i must have done some good with the bearing as i have been riding it round for a few days and at the moment it is working well hopefully it stays that way .

Dave.
